I have had this printer for about 2yrs. I have used windows 7 and 10 on it. I have never been able to scan in a pdf, or an editable document. I could do that with all my other printers. Am I doing somehing wrong. the only options it gives me is tiff, png and jpg...and I can edit any of them if I needed to.

"Why"

Mystery / unknown printer generally needs printer software installed so you can scan, save, and print PDF documents.

What?  Supported printer software or at least a supported print / scan application should be installed to provide access to the printer features.

Installing compatible software and / or supported applications provides support for printing in PDF format.

What else?

Scan > OCR / Editable document

OCR software is NOT provided on all printers -- that means, OCR software is not in all Full Driver printer software for all printers.

In those cases where your printer does not include OCR,

If the printer is supported, that is, it can support OCR software, there are free and purchased options available.
