Windows 7 Laserjet 479dfw issue with front panel Scan to Computer -- wakes up if scan from laptop

UPDATE: I can wake up the Scan to Computer if I initiate a scan from my laptop first. Then the Scan to Computer will wake up and work.
I have two laptops. One runs Windows 10 and the second runs Windows 7.
I use the Scan To Computer feature a lot. The Windows 10 laptop never has an issue. The Windows 7 machine will work for quite a few hours but then when I attempt to Scan to Computer, it quits working.
The HP Fix Scan & Print software can detect the printer but can't connect to fix the issue.
On the Scan section of the main package, I get the Fix issue button which does not work.
Why won't this software consistently work with my Windows 7 laptop? If if worked once and several times in a few hours, why does it stop working?

I have run into cases where having another scanning software installed can cause issues. Particular Brother scanning software. How are you attaching the printer to the network, wireless or wired?
I am a volunteer, offering my knowledge to support fellow users, I do not work for HP nor speak for HP.

The only way to wake up the function is to reboot my laptop and the Scan To Computer will work without fail from within a few minutes to a few hours. Then it just stops.
I removed all the software associated with the prior printer that worked flawlessly.
