I suggest you do not do that.

The printer supports standard / legal size paper in the single page scanner.

Feeding a small plastic bit into the scanner might jam or get lost.

Review the following for the scanning specifications.

• Scan type: Single-page document feeder
• Scan speeds vary according to the complexity of the document

  note:

  Scanning might take longer with documents or photos longer than 8.5 inches.

• Twain-compliant software interface (Windows only)
• Resolution: 600 x 600 pixels per inch (ppi) optical
• Color: 24-bit color, 8-bit grayscale (256 levels of gray)
• Maximum scan size: 216 x 355 mm (8.5 x 14.0 inches)

Suggestion

If you have a mobile phone, use the camera to take a picture of the license.

and / or

Use HP Smart Mobile with a supported phone to scan the license using your phone's camera.

The example illustrates the basics --

Be sure to change the source to the Camera.

Place your license on a smooth flat surface -- perhaps with a medium, plain background.

If you are saving as a PDF file, you will have the option to "add" a second scan.

Reminder - FYI only !

Keep in mind that your license contains private information -- store the scanned data / file in safe location.

The limitation is unique to the feeder type on this printer that must draw the paper into a hidden flatbed.

Perhaps try the phone camera technique, if you can.
