Could be as simple as having hit the capacity of a single scan - memory, tray?
Try reducing the scan resolution - depending on the reason for the job stopping when it does, scanning at a lower resolution might help.
Printers have limited memory and other capacity for single jobs.
Printer might be using its memory for something else -- fax logs, for example.
