I have used HP smart for some time, but when I went to use it today, it would not allow me to crop a scanned photo. What has changed? I scan a photo, click edit to crop it. I drag the blue boxes to frame to part of the photo I want to save. Then click done. And then it gives me the whole photo uncropped. Am I doing something wrong?

@mmferreter I'd like to know which software is being used to edit the photo, that said, to avoid automatic cropping or file duplication, you must change the settings. Follow these steps to change the settings in the HP Scan software.

  1. Open the HP Scan software.

  2. Right-click the bottom left corner of the screen, click Search, click Apps, and then type HP Scan in the Search box, and then click HP Scan.
  3. Select a photo shortcut, such as Photo to File, and then click Advanced Settings.

  4. Make sure the Auto Crop setting is not selected.

  5. Adjust any other settings, and then click Scan to scan your item again.
