Officejet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our Officejet Pro 7740 has recently had the document feeder scanner interpret spaces in a single page document as a page-break and print or scan as two pages, example a letter with a header and two spaces before the body would scan and copy when using the document feeder as two pages where the first would be just the header, and the second would be the body.  I have cleaned the glass on flatbed and underside of lid.  This issue does not happen if a page which is scanned has text on every line.

Running the Scan Doctor did not solve the issue, any other thoughts?

Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

That was quite a task to get print driver un-installed and re-installed.  Sadly, that did not fix the problem either of scanner on our OfficeJet 7740 Pro mis-reading single page scans into two-pages.

Please help!
