Why doesn't the document scanner work from the printer itself?  I have to open HPSmart and then go back and forth into 2 different rooms to scan from the feeder.  Quite a nuisance even without different rooms.  And it often jams after 3-5 pages....

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

 

I see that you are facing issues with scanning to computer from the printer control panel.

 

The scan to a computer feature is enabled by default from the factory. Follow these instructions if the feature has been disabled, and you wish to enable it again. 

1. Open HP Utility. 

2. Under Scan Settings, click Scan to Computer. 

3. Ensure that Enable Scan to Computer is selected.

Many thanks. But when you say HP Utility, what exactly do you mean?  I’ve no trouble scanning from the glass. Only from the document feeder. I can only do it through HP Smart.

Hi @alan926,

 

Since you are able to scan using HP Smart App, I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to update the firmware from HP Smart App.

1. Go to 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS), or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows), or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac) (if not installed).

2. After completing the printer setup, click or tap on the printer’s name.

NOTE: Menu names, locations, and available settings vary by printer model.

3. Under Advanced, select Printer Home Page (EWS) or Advanced Settings.

4. Click or tap Tools or Web Services.

5. Click or tap Printer Updates or Product Update, and then click or tap Check Now.
