HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

Occasion, my OfficeJet pro 8720 will double print a page. This makes it completely unreadable. If I reprint the page, it seems to work OK, but it still is a loss of paper and printer ink. How do I correct it.

Hi @JT8400,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer double printing a page is likely related to either a setting error or a mechanical issue with the printer. Here are some steps you can take to resolve this problem:

Check Printer Settings: Make sure the printer settings on your computer aren't set to double print. Check both the settings in the printer properties and any specific application settings from which you are printing.

Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause issues like double printing. Visit the HP website to find and install the latest drivers for your OfficeJet Pro 8720.

Check the Print Queue: Sometimes errors can occur if multiple commands have been sent to the printer. Clear the print queue to make sure there aren’t any pending print jobs that could be causing issues.

Align and Clean Print Heads: Misalignment or dirty print heads can cause double images. Use the printer’s utility program to run the "clean print heads" function. Follow this by selecting the "align print heads" option. This can be done directly from the printer’s control panel under the maintenance/settings menu.

Inspect for Mechanical Issues: If the problem persists, inspect the printer for any visible signs of mechanical issues, such as stuck paper or loose components. Ensure that all parts inside the printer move freely.

Reset the Printer: Sometimes resetting the printer can resolve printing issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it for about a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
