Ensure Fax Mode, Dial Type (Tone), and Answer Mode are set correctly.

Disable VoIP/DSL Interference

If you use VoIP, internet calling, or DSL, the connection may drop fax signals.

Use an HP-approved DSL filter or connect directly to the wall jack if possible.

Try a Fax Test from the Printer

Open the Fax menu and run the Fax Test Report.
