@Waynepring, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

From the Printer Control Panel

Place the original document on the scanner glass or in the document feeder.

On the printer’s touchscreen:

Tap Copy.

Tap Settings or Copy Settings (may appear as a gear or wrench icon).

Look for an option like:

Resize

Reduce/Enlarge

Fit to Page

Select Fit to Page or 100% (Fit).

Tap Start Copy to begin.

From HP Smart App (on PC or mobile)

If you're using the HP Smart app:

Open HP Smart on your computer or mobile device.

Select Copy.

Use the Resize or Scaling options to choose Fit to Page.

Tap Start Copy.

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

The fit to page feature just does not work. I change the setting, both on the touch screen and through the HP Smart app, but it will not change the size of the copy. What am I missing?

It sounds like the "Fit to Page" feature isn’t responding as expected despite the settings being correctly adjusted. Let's try a few additional troubleshooting steps:

Check Paper Size Settings:

Ensure that the paper size selected in both the printer and the app matches the paper you're using (e.g., A4, Letter). If the paper size is mismatched, the Fit to Page feature might not adjust the copy size properly.

On the printer: Go to Copy Settings > Paper Size and make sure it matches the size of the paper you're using.

In the HP Smart app: When selecting the "Copy" option, ensure the correct paper size is selected under settings or preferences.

Use the “Scaling” Feature:

Sometimes the "Fit to Page" option might not show the expected results if you’re using Scaling. Try setting it to 100% or use the Resize feature to manually adjust the copy size.

Check the Document Type:

Certain types of documents, especially small-sized documents, may not always fit well on a full page if the feature isn’t properly scaling. Try copying a standard letter-size or A4-sized document to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.
