Ahh figured it out. I was positioning the sheet to what I thought was the front edge of scan area. Tried placing sheet against the back edged of scanner frame and that worked simplifying having the sheet square on scanner.

Welcome back to the HP Community --

"DeskJet" and "9025e" are not the same type of printer.

That is, the model type and the model number do not "go together".

First,

Find out what kind of printer you have:

Find Your Printer Name or Number | HP Printers | @HPSupport

OR

Find product and serial numbers for HP PCs, printers, and accessories

Reminder: Never post serial number or any private information in the Community – we are a public resource.

Next,

In general, the Scan "Input" and Scan "Output" sizes can be changed to one of several settings.

The exact settings depend on the software / application you are using.

For example, Change the Scan Area to one of (as available)

  • Entire Scan Area
  • Letter
  • A4
  • 4x6
  • 5x7

Example - HP Smart - Windows - Scan - Options

HP_Smart_W10_Scan_Photo_Screen_8HP_Smart_W10_Scan_Photo_Screen_8

Example - HP Scan - Save as PDF > More > Scan

Input Page Size / Output Page Size

9025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Scan_Output_39025_HP_Scan_Menu_PDF_More_Scan_Output_3

Example - HP Scan > Save as JPEG - More > Scan

Input Page Size / Output Page Size

9025_HP_Scan_menu_JPEG_More_Image_All_79025_HP_Scan_menu_JPEG_More_Image_All_7

My mistake; I had a Deskjet and forgot my new one is an Office Jet 9025e. I'll go to work on it and try your suggestions. Thanks for your help.
