Hi @Chijisco,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The HP OfficeJet 8010 series uses HP Smart and cloud-based services by default, but you can switch back to local scanning if the cloud connection is causing issues.

Here’s how to disable the HP app Cloud and reconnect locally:

Steps to Disable HP app Cloud and Use Local Connection

1. Access the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Print the Network Configuration Page from the printer:
    • Press the Information (i) button or navigate to Settings > Reports > Network Configuration.
  • Find the IP Address (e.g., 192.168.x.x).
  • On your Chromebook or tablet, open Chrome and type:
  • http://<printer IP address>
  • Press Enter to open the EWS page.

2. Disable HP App Cloud Features

  • In EWS, go to: Settings > Web Services
  • Turn Web Services OFF (this disables HP app Cloud and Instant Ink connectivity).
  • Confirm and save changes.

3. Reconnect Locally

  • On your device, open the HP app.
  • Remove the printer from the app.
  • Add the printer again using Wi-Fi Direct or local network
    • Enable Wi-Fi Direct on the printer (usually under Wireless Settings).
    • Connect your Chromebook to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct SSID.
    • Re-add the printer in HP Smart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Vikram - do I need to be connected directly to the printer to achieve these steps? In other words, do I connect via RJ45 cable from device to the printer to effect this change? I tried it wirelessly but it failed to connect unfortunately. Please advise
