@Duchess9337, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'd be happy to help you scan a document and send it to your MSN email using your HP OfficeJet 4656. Here's how you can do it:

Option 1: Scan and Email Using HP Smart App (Recommended)

  1. Download and install the HP Smart app
    HP Smart
  2. Open HP Smart and make sure your printer is connected.
  3. Click on Scan > place your document on the scanner bed or in the ADF.
  4. After scanning, click Share or Save.
  5. Choose Email and select your preferred email app (like Outlook or Mail app configured with your MSN account), or manually attach the saved file to an email sent from https://outlook.live.com (MSN/Hotmail).

Option 2: Scan to Email Using Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Note: This method requires setting up Scan to Email on the printer’s web interface.

Find your printer’s IP address:

  • On the printer, press the Wireless button to view the IP address.

Open a browser on your PC and enter the IP address (e.g., http://192.168.1.100).

Go to Scan > Scan to Email Setup.

Follow the Scan to Email Wizard to:

  • Set up your email profile (you can use your MSN/Outlook email).
  • Enter SMTP settings for MSN:
    • SMTP Server: smtp.office365.com
    • Port: 587
    • Encryption: STARTTLS
    • Email: your MSN email address
    • Password: your email password or app password (if 2FA is enabled)

Save the settings and try scanning to email directly from the printer’s control panel.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
