hp envy 7640

I scan a doc into my hp envy 7640 and email it to myself so I can download it as pdf.  BUT when I try to open the scan my email says: FIle format is not supported

It has worked every day: BUT this morning I woke up and my printer erased my contact emails. weird. I had to re enter my email and password.

Hi,

Please try saving the file to a folder, rename it and add a PDF extension and check if you may open the file then.

Note: for Windows 10 click the top View ribbon menu and check the box next to File name extensions prior to renaming the file.

Please let me know if that works,

Shlomi

I had the same issue yesterday. First I had to re-enter my email address and password. Then I scanned a document to my email. When I opened my email on my laptop (Windows 10), I was unable to open the file "file format is not supported". Up until this point, the document automatically scanned in as a PDF file. I then could open the file, rename it, save it, etc.

Is this an issue with a WIndows 10 update that no longer supports my printer? Or is it an HP issue that HP is no longer providing updated drivers for my "older" printer?
