Hi @waktze,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like there might be an issue with the connection or the drivers for the scanner. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Check Connection: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the laptop via USB cable or network connection. Sometimes a loose connection can cause the scanner to not be detected.
  • Restart Devices: Try restarting both the printer and the laptop. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure that the printer drivers are up to date on your laptop. You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website. Download and install them if needed.
  • Check Scanner Settings: Ensure that the scanner is enabled and set up correctly on your laptop. Sometimes settings can be accidentally changed or disabled.
  • Reinstall Software: If updating drivers doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software on your laptop. This can sometimes fix any corrupted files or settings causing the issue.
  • Check for Errors: Look for any error messages or codes on the printer display panel or in the printer software on your laptop. These can provide more specific information about what might be wrong.
  • Reset Printer Settings: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its factory default settings. However, be aware that this will erase any custom settings you have configured.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
