Hi @DCBW,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 is wirelessly printing from your MacBook but won't scan to the computer, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

Basic Checks:

  1. Connection: Ensure that your printer and MacBook are connected to the same wireless network.
  2. Printer Status: Check if the printer's display shows any error messages related to scanning or connectivity.

Troubleshooting Steps:

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both your printer and MacBook.
  • Wait for a minute.
  • Turn on the printer first and allow it to fully boot up.
  • Turn on your MacBook.

Update Printer Software:

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Look for the software/drivers section for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest software and drivers for your printer.

HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows) / HP Easy Start (Mac):

  • HP provides tools to diagnose and resolve printing/scanning issues.
  • Download and run "HP Print and Scan Doctor" on Windows or "HP Easy Start" on Mac from the HP website.

Check Firewall/Antivirus:

  • Sometimes security software can block communication.
  • Temporarily disable firewall/antivirus and try scanning again.

Reinstall Printer:

  • On your MacBook, remove the printer.
  • Re-add the printer as a new device.
  • Make sure to select the correct driver.

Reset Printing System (Mac):

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers on the left.
  • Choose "Reset printing system."
  • Re-add your printer and try scanning again.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure the scanning settings on the printer are correctly configured.
  • Check if there are any specific settings for wireless scanning.

Network Connection:

  • If possible, try connecting the printer to the MacBook with a USB cable and see if scanning works.
  • This can help determine if the issue is with the wireless connection.

Additional Tips:

  • Make sure there are no pending updates for your MacBook's operating system.
  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date.
  • Double-check the printer's manual for any specific troubleshooting steps related to scanning.

Following these steps should help resolve the issue with scanning from your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 to your MacBook.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
