Hi @dennisjohn17764,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8630 doesn’t let you scan multiple pages into a single PDF using the HP Smart app on your MacBook. Let’s walk through how to fix this and get your scanning workflow back on track.

How to Scan Multiple Pages into One PDF on macOS

The HP Smart app on macOS does support multi-page scanning, but the feature may be hidden or not obvious. Here’s how to do it:

1. Use the Correct Scan Job Type

  • Open HP Smart on your Mac
  • Click your printer → Select Scan
  • On the right side, look for Scan Job Type
  • Choose Batch or Document (Batch is ideal for multi-page scans)

2. Scan Using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder)

If your printer has an ADF:

  • Place all pages in the feeder
  • Select Input Source as Document Feeder
  • Click Scan → All pages will be scanned automatically

3. Add Pages Manually (Glass Scanning)

If using the scanner glass:

  • After scanning the first page, click + Add
  • Place the next page and scan again
  • Repeat until all pages are added
  • Click Save as PDF when done

4. Save as a Single PDF

  • After scanning all pages, click Save
  • Choose PDF as the file format
  • Name your file and choose a location
