Hi @tablerock123,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw printer is installed correctly but isn’t allowing you to scan. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Check Connection Type

If you’re using Wi-Fi, make sure the printer and computer are connected to the same wireless network.

If you’re using a USB connection, ensure the cable is firmly connected to both the printer and the computer. Try a different USB port if possible.

b. Verify Scanner Recognition

On your computer, open Control Panel → Devices and Printers.

Right-click your HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3301sdw and select Start Scan.

If it shows an error or doesn’t respond, move to the next step.

c. Reinstall or Update HP Smart / Full Feature Software

Open the HP Smart app (or download it from 123.hp.com).

Click Printer → Printer Settings → Scanner Setup and ensure the scanner is detected.

If not, uninstall HP Smart and reinstall the Full Feature Software and Drivers for your model from the HP Support page.

d. Run Windows Scan Test

Press Windows + S, type Windows Scan, and open the Scan app.

Try scanning from here to confirm if the system detects the scanner.

e. Restart Print Spooler and WIA Services

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Locate and restart the following services:

Print Spooler

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)

After restarting, try scanning again.

I hope this helps.
