Hi @tia-johnson,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you can see the items on the LED display screen of your printer but are unable to touch the icons or interact with them, it suggests a potential issue with the touchscreen functionality. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem:

1. Clean the Touchscreen

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Gently clean the touchscreen with a soft, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution.
  • Avoid using excessive moisture or harsh chemicals that could damage the touchscreen.

2. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.
  • Check if the touchscreen functionality has been restored.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.
  • Visit the hp website and follow the instructions to download and install any available updates.
  • Firmware updates may include fixes for touchscreen issues.

4. Perform a Power Cycle

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the touchscreen is responsive.

5. Reset Printer Settings

  • Perform a factory reset on your printer to restore it to its original settings.
  • Be aware that this will erase any customized settings and configurations.
  • Consult the printer manual or Hp website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
