HP ENVY 5055 All-in-One Printer

I have MAC  Book Pro OS Sequoia 15.4.1 I went to scan and I received a message asking for access to find devices across all networks I denied without thinking because I am a single user. I tried resetting my printer, deleting then adding it back, tried using the HP SMART APP but kept getting the message my printer was offline, i shut down my MAC and printer then restarted both, and when I tried the scanner again I got a message 'failed to make a connection to the device." Hawks_Eye I hope you can help me again as you were my miracle man with my last printer dilemma.

@chlippa, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you so much for posting your query! My colleague @Hawks_Eye is currently out, but don't worry – I’ll be taking over and making sure we get this sorted for you.

I’m here to help, and together, we’ll work through this!

Re-enable Network Access for the Printer

You’ll need to re-enable the permissions you accidentally denied for the printer. This can be done from System Settings in macOS.

Open System Settings on your Mac.

Go to Privacy & Security.

Scroll down and select Local Network on the left.

Find your HP Printer in the list on the right (if it’s listed, check if its box is unchecked).

Check the box next to your HP printer. This will allow your Mac to detect it on the network again.

Ensure Printer is Set Up Correctly

It’s possible the connection got disrupted when you deleted and re-added the printer. Try this to reconnect it:

Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Remove your printer if it’s listed (click on it, then click the minus button).

Restart both your Mac and printer.

After restarting, go back to Printers & Scanners, click the plus button, and select your printer from the list.

Try Scanning Again

After completing these steps, try scanning again via your Mac’s Preview app or the HP Smart App.

I truly hope these steps help get things back on track. If you have any questions or need any further clarification, just let me know – I’m happy to guide you through it and make sure everything works perfectly.

Take care, and I hope you have an amazing day ahead! 😊

Problem solved? 🎉 That’s fantastic! If you could mark this as the Accepted Solution, it would help others find their way here faster. And if you found this helpful, a simple ‘yes’ would mean a lot – it makes my day and gives this reply a little street cred! 🏅
