Hi @NormaSJ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When the "Alt + PrtScn" keyboard shortcut isn't working on your Windows 11 system for capturing a screenshot, you can try several troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. This keyboard combination is supposed to capture the active window to the clipboard, which you can then paste (Ctrl + V) into a program like Paint or Word. Here's what you can do:

Check Clipboard History:

  • Ensure Clipboard history is turned on. Go to Settings > System > Clipboard and turn on Clipboard history. This might help with capturing and accessing screenshots.

Alternative Screenshot Methods:

  • Try other screenshot shortcuts like "Windows + Shift + S" to open the Snipping Tool, allowing you to select a portion of your screen to capture.
  • Use the "Print Screen" key alone to capture the entire screen. This will save the screenshot to the clipboard.

Update Keyboard Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
  • Find "Keyboards" in the list, expand it, right-click your keyboard, and select "Update driver".

Check Keyboard Functionality:

  • Ensure that the Alt and PrtScn keys work independently for other functions. This will help determine if the issue is with the keys themselves.

Restart Your Computer:

  • If you haven't already, restarting your computer can resolve many issues, including this one.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for any available updates for your system.

Hardware Issues:

  • If none of the software solutions work, there might be an issue with your keyboard. Try using an external keyboard to see if the problem persists.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, running programs can interfere with keyboard shortcuts. Try closing unnecessary programs to see if that resolves the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
