Hi @nino1958,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 isn’t sending or receiving faxes, here are some troubleshooting steps to try.

Check Phone Line Connections: Ensure the phone line is securely connected to the printer and the wall jack. Make sure there are no loose or disconnected cables.

Verify Fax Settings:

  • On the printer, go to the Fax menu.
  • Select Setup or Fax Setup and ensure that the Country/Region, Area Code, and Dialing Prefix (if required) are correctly set.

Test the Phone Line:

  • Plug a regular phone into the phone line and check if you can make and receive calls. This helps determine if there’s a problem with the phone line itself.

Check for Fax Errors:

  • Look at the printer's display for any error messages related to faxing. Refer to the error code or message in the printer’s user manual or HP’s online support.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Support website or through the printer’s menu if connected to the internet.

Reset Fax Settings:

  • Go to the Fax menu on your printer, select Setup, and look for a Reset option. This will reset the fax settings to default.

Check for Fax Setup Issues:

  • Ensure you’ve selected the correct settings for the type of fax line you’re using (e.g., analog or digital).

Perform a Fax Test:

  • Try sending a test fax to a known working fax number or have someone send a fax to your number to check if it’s being received.

Check for Compatibility Issues:

  • Ensure that the phone line being used is compatible with the fax function. Some digital phone lines or VoIP services may require additional setup or may not support faxing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
