We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.  

  

It sounds like your HP Envy 7640 printer is printing fine but refusing to scan on macOS Sequoia 15. Try these steps to troubleshoot the issue:

 

Check Scanner Connection

  • If connected via USB, unplug and reconnect the cable. Try a different port.
  • If using Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is on the same network as your Mac.
  • Restart your router and printer to refresh the connection.

Use HP Smart or Image Capture

  • Open HP Smart (install it from the App Store if not installed) and try scanning.
  • Alternatively, open Image Capture (built into macOS) and select your printer to scan.

Reset the Printing System

  1. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  2. Right-click your printer and choose Reset Printing System
  3. Re-add the printer and try scanning again.

Reinstall HP Software

  • Uninstall any existing HP drivers and install the latest version from HP’s website.

Check for macOS Scanner Updates

  • Go to System Settings > Software Update and install any available updates.
