Hi @wimpeebutt,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP printer is not functioning properly, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Power and Connections:

  • Make sure the printer is plugged in and turned on.
  • Verify that all cables are securely connected to the printer and the computer.

Paper Jam:

  • Check for any paper jams inside the printer. Even if the paper is feeding through, there could still be a jam in the printer mechanism preventing it from printing.

Printer Queue:

  • Check the print queue on your computer to see if there are any pending print jobs. If there are, try cancelling them and then try printing again.

Printer Driver:

  • Ensure that the correct printer driver is installed on your computer. You may need to update or reinstall the printer driver if it's outdated or corrupted.
  • You can usually find the latest drivers on the HP website by searching for your printer model.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Sometimes, simply restarting both the printer and the computer can resolve connectivity or software issues.

Printer Settings:

  • Check the printer settings to ensure that it's not set to "Offline" mode.
  • Make sure the printer is selected as the default printer on your computer.

Test with Different Device:

  • If possible, try printing from a different device (e.g., another computer or a smartphone) to determine if the issue is with the printer or the computer.

Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that the printer firmware is up-to-date. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or via the HP website.

Hardware Issues:

  • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer itself.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue with your HP printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
