Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

I can print from my laptop but I can't scan from my envy 5530 printer.printer says unable to connect to server or set proxy address.I don't understand because computer uses the same router to send to printer.

@Otis2010, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

 

I see that you are not able to scan. To assist you better,

  • Which app are you using to scan?
  • Or, are you trying to scan from the printer screen?

 

Use the HP Smart app to scan. Refer to - How to scan with an HP printer

 

If this does not help, use the HP Scan and Capture app from the Microsoft Store to scan.
