HP DeskJet 2132 All-in-One Printer

I have had this printer for many years.  When I click on the printer icon on the desktop a scan screen will come up and I have used that successfully forever.  Today when I clicked on the icon all that came up was a screen that says : Do you want to allow this app to make changes to this device?"  If I click yes it wants me to insert a cd which I no longer have.  How to I get the scan option to come back?

It sounds like there might be a software issue with your printer. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and hopefully restore the scanning functionality.

 

  • Check Printer Connections: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB cable or Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart Your Computer and Printer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve software glitches. Turn off both your computer and printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause issues. Visit the HP website, search for your printer model (HP DeskJet 2132), and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
  • Check for Software Updates: Make sure that your scanning software is up-to-date. If you're using HP's scanning software, check for updates within the software itself or on the HP website.
  • Run Printer Troubleshooter: Most operating systems have built-in troubleshooters that can automatically detect and fix common printer issues. You can access these troubleshooters through your computer's settings or control panel.
  • Reinstall Printer Software: If none of the above steps work, try uninstalling the printer software completely from your computer and then reinstalling it. Make sure to download the software from the official HP website.
