macOS 15.0 Sequoia

Scanner on my HP LaserJetPro 200 stopped working after I installed new HP software and also HP Easy Scan.

Tried various things to correct it over last 2 days and just had 40 min session with Apple support but they couldn't solve it either!  Does anyone have any suggestions to make please?.

Hi @RosieDuxx,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet Pro 200 scanner has stopped working on your iMac running macOS Sequoia 15.7 after installing the latest HP software and HP Easy Scan, and even Apple Support couldn’t resolve it. Let’s go step by step to troubleshoot and restore scanning functionality.

1. Remove Conflicting HP Software

Sometimes multiple HP apps cause conflicts.

Go to Applications > HP and move all HP apps to Trash.

Also remove HP Easy Scan from Applications.

Empty Trash and restart your Mac.

2. Reinstall HP Smart or HP Easy Scan

Download the latest HP Smart or HP Easy Scan from:

HP Smart for Mac

HP Easy Scan

Install only one HP scanning app to avoid conflicts.

3. Remove and Re-add the Printer

Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Select your HP LaserJet Pro 200 → click – to remove it.

Click + → Add Printer.

Prefer AirPrint if available; otherwise, select HP driver.

4. Check Scanner Functionality via Preview

Open Preview > File > Import from Scanner.

If the scanner works here, the issue may be with the HP software.

5. Reset Printing System

Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.

Right-click any printer in the list → Reset printing system…

Re-add your HP LaserJet Pro 200.

Note: This will remove all printers and scanners temporarily.

6. Verify Firewall / Security Settings

macOS Sequoia may block scanner access.

Go to System Settings > Network > Firewall → temporarily disable it or allow HP software through the firewall.

7. Test via USB (if Wi-Fi fails)

Connect the printer directly via USB.

Some scanning issues on macOS Sequoia occur only with Wi-Fi connections.

I hope this helps.
