Hi @Donna-d-h,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing issues where scanned pictures are only showing on part of the page despite setting the scanner to detect content, there are several possible reasons and troubleshooting steps you can try:

Scanner Settings: Check the settings of your scanner software or scanner device itself to ensure that the scanning area is set correctly. Make sure that the scanning area encompasses the entire picture you want to scan.

Resolution Settings: Adjust the resolution settings of your scanner to ensure that it captures the entire picture with sufficient detail. Higher resolutions may provide better image quality but can also increase file size.

Scan Preview: Use the scan preview feature if available to preview the scanned image before saving it. This allows you to see how the scanned picture will appear and make any necessary adjustments to the scanning area.

Alignment and Calibration: Check if your scanner requires alignment or calibration. Misalignment or calibration issues can cause the scanned image to appear cropped or off-center. Refer to your scanner's user manual for instructions on how to perform alignment or calibration.

Software Update: Ensure that your scanner software is up to date. Check the HP website for any available updates or patches that may address compatibility or performance issues.

Scanner Driver: Update or reinstall the scanner driver on your computer. Outdated or corrupted scanner drivers can cause various scanning issues, including cropping or misalignment of scanned images.

Check Scanner Glass: Inspect the scanner glass for any dirt, smudges, or debris that may interfere with the scanning process. Clean the scanner glass using a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild glass cleaner if necessary.

Test with Different Software: Try scanning the picture using different scanning software to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the scanning software you're using.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
