Are you getting any error message while scanning?

Are you able to make copy?

 

Meanwhile:

Check the scanner bar functionality: partially lift the scanner lid, and then press the Copy button or icon. If the scanner light does not illuminate or move across the glass.

I am also having problems with my HP 7640 not scanning.  When I try to scan to computer, it states that I am not connected the my desktop.  I have tried using the scan doctor but it keeps telling me that I am not connected.  I have unplugged my router and printer.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled my software.  I am able to print but not scan.  Any further suggestions?

Which operating system is installed on the computer to which this printer is connected?

 

If you are using this printer in a Windows 10 computer, follow the below steps:

Enable scan to computer

  1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
  2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
  3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer.

I was unable to scan from my printer to my email after I changed my email password on my Mac.  I have a Laser Jet Pro MFP M227.  When I try to reset the printer, the error message is:  user name or password are incorrect.  I'm not sure what the password is.  I tried entering the new password for my email but that doesn't work.  Another message I get is:  cannot resolve the SMTP server.  Check the SMTP and DIVS server settings.  My internet service provider said it should work using my new email password, but not the case.  I'm at a loss.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have tried all of the suggestions and I continue to get an error message that states that my scanner is not connected to my computer.  I have also lifted the cover and did not see the scanner light go across the bed.  Do you have any other suggestions?

My C5280 gives me a error message when I try to make a copy. An old machine but hardly used. Put new ink in both sides.

This seems to be a hardware issue.

I request you to talk to HP support.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

  1. Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
  2. Select the country.
  3. Enter the serial of your device.
  4. Select the country from the drop-down.
  5. Click on "Show Options".
  6. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
