@csawaya, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I understand you're having trouble getting the scanner working on your HP 4255e. To resolve this issue, you can follow these general troubleshooting steps:

Check Connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected. If it's a wireless connection, ensure that your printer is connected to the network.

Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed. You can download them from the HP Support website by searching for your specific printer model.

Scanner Software: Verify that the scanner software is installed correctly. Try reinstalling the software from the HP website if necessary.

Firewall and Antivirus: Sometimes, antivirus or firewall settings can block the scanner. Temporarily disable these settings to see if it resolves the issue.

Restart Devices: Restart both your printer and the computer to refresh their settings and connections.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
