scanner is not working.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

1. shut down printer via on/off switch
2. switch off the router
3. shut down the computer
4. wait about 60 sec.
5. switch on the router, wait until the router has completely initialized itself again
6. Switch on the printer, wait until the printer has finished its initialization
7. switch on computer, log in (with admin rights) and wait about 10 sec.

... and now everything's working again?

If not, place the printer close to the router and repeat steps 1-7 again.

If the 2nd pass is unsuccessful, then here's what you need to do:

1. Uninstall HP printer software, and then remove the printer from your Devices list. 
2. Restart the PC
3. Close all programs
4. download only, right-cklick and save to ..., this complete package: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M28w/M29w/M30w/M31w Printer Full Software Solution 
   File name: Full_Webpack-46.5.2645-LJM28-M31_UWL_Full_Webpack.exe (144.7 MB)
5. download only, right-cklick and save to ..., this complete package: HP Scan OCR Add-on Software 
   File name: Win7plus-1.0.1020-HPOCR_Win7plus.exe (224.8 MB)
6. Close all programs
7. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE, see above under point 4
8. The installation was completed successfully, now you must ...
9. Restart the System again
10. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the EXE, see above under point 5
11. Restart the System again
12. Now the installation is complete.

Document error messages accurately, even better is to take a screenshot of it and upload here.
