scanning problem

HP Recommended
HP 8740 All In One Printer
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have had 2 HP 8740 All In One Printers. They've both had the same scanning problem.  Using the automatic document feeder, when the pages scan, one page prints onto two pages. Part of a page prints on one page and the rest of the document prints on the second page. I've tried everything. I hate to get rid of another perfectly good printer because of something that could possibly be an easy fix. I can't even download an available firmware update, because when I try, it doesn't locate my printer. Help! I don't know what to do.

@bgraham2020, Welcome to HP Support Community!

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
