Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Envy 7155 all-in-one printer/scanner.  The printer quit working but the scanner still works.  I bought a new HP 2700 printer/scanner that is on HP Smart.  I removed the 7155 from HP Smart because I didn't want to pay for printing that I won't do.  I would like to be able to scan from the 7155, but am not sure what I need to do to be able to do that.  I also don't want to add another app/program that might interfere with the 2700.  I'm not very computer literate so am asking for some ideas as to how to handle this.  Thanks for any ideas.

Hi @Mamaw4x,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Certainly! To use your HP Envy 7155 scanner without re-adding it to HP Smart, you can follow these steps.

Check Drivers:

  • Make sure that the HP Envy 7155 printer/scanner drivers are installed on your computer. If not, you may need to download and install the appropriate drivers from the HP website.

Use Windows Fax and Scan (Windows) or Image Capture (Mac):

  • On Windows, you can use the built-in "Windows Fax and Scan" application. To open it, press the Windows key, type "Fax and Scan," and press Enter.
  • On Mac, you can use the "Image Capture" application. You can find it in the Applications folder.

Connect Your Printer to the Computer:

  • Ensure that your HP Envy 7155 is connected to your computer either through a USB cable or via your local network if it's a wireless printer.

Start the Scanning Software:

  • Open the scanning software on your computer. This could be the "Windows Fax and Scan" on Windows or "Image Capture" on Mac.

Choose Your Scanner:

  • In the scanning software, look for an option to choose your scanner. Select your HP Envy 7155 from the list.

Initiate a Scan:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate a scan. Usually, there will be a "Scan" button or a similar option.

Save the Scanned Document:

  • Once the scanning process is complete, you'll usually have the option to save the scanned document. Choose a location on your computer to save it.

Review Scanned Document:

  • Open the saved scanned document to make sure it was successfully scanned.

By using the built-in scanning software, you avoid adding any extra applications that might interfere with your new HP 2700. This method allows you to use the scanner functionality of your HP Envy 7155 without re-adding it to HP Smart for printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
