It sounds like your HP Chromebook is connected to your printer, but you're having trouble scanning pictures to your laptop. 

 

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

 

Ensure Your Printer Supports Scanning to Chromebook

  1. Check Printer Compatibility: Verify that your printer model supports scanning and is compatible with Chromebooks.

Use HP Smart App for Chrome OS

  1. Install HP Smart App: If you haven't already, install the HP Smart app from the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Set Up Printer: Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer.

Scan Using HP Smart App

  1. Open HP Smart App: Launch the HP Smart app on your Chromebook.
  2. Select Scan: Choose the "Scan" option from the main menu.
  3. Adjust Settings: Adjust the scan settings as needed (e.g., resolution, file format).
  4. Start Scan: Place the document or photo you want to scan on the scanner glass or in the document feeder, then start the scan.

Troubleshoot Common Issues

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that both your printer and Chromebook are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart both your printer and Chromebook to refresh the connection.

Update Firmware and Apps: Update the firmware on an HP printer 

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.
  • Ensure your Chromebook OS and HP Smart app are up to date.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Make sure there are no pending print jobs that might be interfering with the scanning function.
