I understand you're unable to send a fax from your HP Smart Tank 7620. Here are the steps to help you resolve the issue:

1. Run a Fax Test

• On the printer’s control panel:
  • Go to Fax or Setup menu.
  • Select Run Fax Test or Fax Test Report.
  • Review the report for any failed tests and follow the on-screen instructions.
     

2. Check Fax Line Connections

• Make sure the phone line is connected to the “1-LINE” port on the back of the printer.
• If you have a phone or answering machine, connect it to the “2-EXT” port.
• Try connecting a regular phone to the wall jack to confirm there's a dial tone.
   

3. Dialling and Settings

• Redial the number manually and ensure:
  • You include any required area codes, country codes, or outside line access codes (like 9).
• Lower the fax speed to improve reliability.
• Enable Error Correction Mode (ECM) in the fax settings.
• Try sending the fax in black and white, as some machines don’t support color faxes.
   

4. Confirm Dialling Type

• Most phone lines use tone dialling. Make sure your printer is set to tone, not pulse.
   

5. Enable Fax Error Reports

• This will print a report if a fax fails, which can help identify the issue.
