HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I use the scan/print option "HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series (NET)" but for some reason the two sided option for scanning and printing has disappeared.  Only one side option is now available.  Restarting both the "9010 series (NET)" and the HP computer doesn't bring back the two side option.  Updating the software (there apparently was a late January 2025 update available) doesn't help either.   Suggestions?

@bear1066, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Two-Sided Scanning and Printing Issues with HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are experiencing issues with the two-sided scanning and printing options on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e, here are some steps you can follow to resolve the problem:

Check Printer Settings:

  • Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS) of your printer.
  • Go to the Scan settings and ensure two-sided scanning is enabled.
  • Similarly, check the Print settings to ensure two-sided printing is enabled.

Driver and Software Update:

  • Even if you believe the software is updated, manually verify the version and try reinstalling the drivers from the HP website and search for the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e.

HP Smart App Configuration:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Check the scanning settings and ensure two-sided scanning options are available.
  • For printing, navigate through the print menu and look for the two-sided printing settings.

Recheck Printer's Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, the issue might be linked to outdated firmware.

Reset Settings:

  • Restore the printer to its default settings:
    1. Go to the printer’s control panel.
    2. Navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore.
    3. Select "Restore Factory Defaults".

Reconnect Printer:

  • Remove the printer from the network and reconnect:
    1. Disconnect the printer from the network.
    2. Restart your router.
    3. Reconnect the printer after router restarts.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thanks.  I'm still unable to make the HP app accept two sided scanning.  However, I accidentally stumbled onto a larger version of the HP OfficeJet 9010 series (net) app, I found I could  alter the settings back to two sided.  I then created another "shortcut" that saved these settings, thinking that maybe that would alter the smaller version of the app.  It didn't--still only one version of the app that has the two sided option.  I'll leave it up so I'm ok for the moment but whether I can find it again when I need it is an open question.  HP Smart is utterly useless from my (no doubt limited) perspective.
