macOS 12.0 Monterey

(NOTE: I selected macOS 12.0 Monterey above because I didn't see my option.  I'm on macOS Sonoma version 14.2.1)

 

On printer, when I click "scan to computer" it says "no computer found" but my computer and printer are on the same network in my home.  They are connected, as the printer feature works just fine.  I just can't SCAN.  I have tried ALL of the things I've read on the forums, along with youtube videos. Nothing is working.   I've already done all of the factory resets, restarted both devices, etc etc etc.

 

I was previously using HP Utility, but I think that's now out of date?  I have downloaded HP Smart and that says my device is connected. Doesn't give me the option to scan.  When I click "Advanced Settings" and it opens a browser window, when I click "Scan" from there, it says: "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer."    I'm the one who set up the printer!!! (~7 or 8 years ago, but it's only been me using it.  It used to work fine with my old Macbook, but I got a new one ~2 years ago or so and I haven't been able to scan since then.

 

Please help!!! This is SO frustrating!!
