use non-hp ink cartridge in my HP9015e printer

I have HP9015e printer, I bought the 962XL printer cartridges from one ink because they are a lot less expensive, I am a retiree and need to watch how I spend money, 

tried printing but the printer is telling me the cartridges I have installed are altered or cloned, is there any way to bypass this? i am not about to pay twice as much for the HP cartridges. Is this even legal. I dont quite understand how HP can do this?

Use of Non-HP-chipped ink cartridges is not supported in this printer.

What works and what is not supported are decisions controlled by HP for all HP products.
