I understand your HP 8015e is able to copy using the document feeder but not when using the scanner glass. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

    a. Check Scanner Glass
        Make sure the glass is clean and free from dust, smudges, or debris.
        Use a soft, lint-free cloth with a little glass cleaner if necessary, but avoid spraying directly on the glass.

    b. Verify Copy Settings
        On the printer display or in HP Smart, select Copy → Source → Scanner Glass.
        Make sure the number of copies, color, and size settings are correct.

    c. Restart Printer and Computer
        Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
        Restart your computer.
        Plug the printer back in and power it on.

    d. Update or Reinstall HP Smart / Drivers
        Open HP Smart and check for updates.
        If the issue persists, uninstall HP Smart and reinstall the latest full-feature HP driver compatible with Windows 11.

    e. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
        Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
        This tool can detect issues with the scanner glass function and correct them.

    f. Check for Firewall / Security Software Interference
        Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software that could block scanner communication.
        Test the scan from glass again.

    g. Test from Another Device
        Try copying from glass using a different computer or mobile device with HP Smart.
        This helps determine if the issue is with the Windows 11 PC or the printer itself.

can't find or see anything that shows verify copy settings. no copy or source is showing

Thank you for your update! I understand that you’re unable to select Scanner Glass as a source for copying on your HP 8015e, and the option doesn’t appear in the app or printer display. Let’s go through some focused steps to resolve this:

a. Check Copy Function on Printer Panel
 - On the printer touch display, go to Home → Copy.
 - If the Source option isn’t visible, tap the settings icon or look for More Options within Copy.
 - Make sure the printer isn’t defaulting to Document Feeder only; some settings hide the glass option if the feeder has paper loaded.

b. Remove Paper from Document Feeder
 - Empty the ADF (automatic document feeder) tray completely.
 - Sometimes, the printer automatically prioritizes the feeder and hides the glass option when paper is loaded there.

c. Reset Printer Settings
 - On the printer panel: Settings → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults.
 - This ensures any previous misconfigurations aren’t hiding the glass source.

d. Update / Reinstall HP Smart or Driver
 - On your Windows 11 PC, uninstall HP Smart.
 - Download and install the full-feature HP driver for your HP 8015e from the official HP website.
 - Open HP Smart and check if the Source option now shows Scanner Glass.

e. Test Copy Directly from Printer
 - Try copying a page directly using the printer display, without HP Smart or the PC connected.
 - If the Scanner Glass option appears on the panel, the issue may be with the app or driver on Windows 11.

f. Power Cycle
 - Turn off the printer, unplug it for 60 seconds, then power it back on.
 - This can refresh hidden or stuck menu options.

Following these steps should restore the Scanner Glass option for copying.
