Hi @bill32248,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To scan a document from your HP DeskJet 2700e All-in-One printer to your MacBook without using a smartphone, follow these steps.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Connect Printer to MacBook

  • Make sure your HP DeskJet 2700e printer is powered on.
  • Ensure that your MacBook is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer. If the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi, follow the setup instructions in the printer manual to connect it to your network.

Install HP Smart App (if not already installed)

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store if you haven't done so already.
  • Open the HP Smart app once installed.

Set up the Printer in HP Smart

  • In the HP Smart app, click on the + icon or Add Printer to add your HP DeskJet 2700e to the app.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Place Document on Scanner Glass

  • Lift the top lid of the printer and place your document face-down on the scanner glass. Align it according to the markings on the scanner.

Start the Scan

  • In the HP Smart app, click on Scan (you might need to select the printer if prompted).
  • Choose your scanning settings (such as color, resolution, and type of scan).
  • Select Scan to begin scanning the document.

Save the Scan

  • After the scan is complete, you’ll have the option to preview and save the scanned document to your MacBook.
  • Click on Save and choose the location where you want the file to be stored (e.g., Documents, Desktop, etc.).

Alternative: Using Preview App (Built-in)

If you prefer not to use the HP Smart app, you can use the Preview app on your MacBook:

  1. Open Preview from your Applications folder.
  2. From the File menu, select Import from Scanner.
  3. Choose HP DeskJet 2700e from the scanner list.
  4. Select your scan preferences and click Scan.
  5. Save the scanned document to your preferred location.

This should allow you to scan a document from your HP DeskJet 2700e to your MacBook without using a smartphone.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
