HP OfficeJet Pro 8745 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Using webjet scan opens a new browser page which gives error message "This page can’t be found No webpage was found for the web address: http:/xxxx"

Printer/Scanner is HP OfficeJet Pro 8740

I've used this for years.  Normally a dialog box comes up saying a new window will open, click OK and a new window opens and the scanned images appear.

Updated device to latest firmware.

Uninstalled driver/printer software.

Installed lasted driver and software.

HP Smart and Printer software do work yet are much slower and more cumbersome.

Does HP still support webjet on HP OfficeJet Pro 8740?

Sorry if I wasn't clear above.

In Google Chrome I go to the web address of the HP Officejet 8740, i.e. 192.168.0.15

That brings up the device browser interface

I then click on SCAN

I then check the options are correct (ADF/Glass, 1 or 2 sided, etc)  and click start

This brings up a dialog box staing a new browser tab will open

This used to work find but now brings up  error message "This page can’t be found No webpage was found for the web address: http:/xxxx".

So, again,  Does HP still support webjet on HP OfficeJet Pro 8740?

really hoping an HP employee / support person can answer the question: why is the up to date browser interface no longer supporting the printer webjet scanning function

Yes, this seems to be a driver issue.

Though you have the latest driver, uninstalling the driver from the root level and reinstalling it should fix the issue.

Here are the steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install the printer using HP Smart app

Update the printer firmware to install the latest updates

Thanks for your response.

After this very lengthy process there has been absolutely no change whatsoever to the issue.

So, clean deleted the software and driver, including two restarts.

Clean fresh download of latest software and driver.

Check printer had latest firmware (it did).

Go to the IP address of the printer which did bring up the interface, went to scan, up came the pop-up saying it would open a new tab.

Then the new tab once again says "This (IP address) page can't be found"

So, once again:

Has HP cancelled, stopped, no longer allows, the device interface to no longer scan?

What can I do to enable that scan interface to work?

Thanks,

Les
