Hi @jonboat1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When encountering issues with wireless printing, there could be several factors causing the problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to address the issue.

  • Check Printer Connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the wireless network. Make sure it's turned on and that it's connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, simply restarting both your printer and your laptop can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Outdated printer drivers can cause printing problems. Check if there are any available updates for your printer's drivers and install them.
  • Check Print Queue: Sometimes, print jobs get stuck in the print queue, which can prevent new print jobs from completing. Clear the print queue on your laptop and the printer itself.
  • Printer Firmware Update: Like drivers, outdated printer firmware can also cause issues. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model and update if necessary.
  • Network Issues: Poor Wi-Fi signal or network congestion can also cause printing problems. Move your printer closer to the Wi-Fi router or consider using a Wi-Fi range extender to improve signal strength.
  • Firewall/Antivirus Software: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can block communication between your laptop and the printer. Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your laptop and try printing again.
  • Check for Error Messages: If there are any error messages displayed on the printer or your laptop when the print job fails, note them down. This information can help in diagnosing the issue more accurately.
  • Test with Different Document/Program: Try printing a different document or using a different program to send the print job to the printer. This can help determine if the issue is specific to a certain document or program.
  • Reset Printer: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may need to perform a factory reset on your printer. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
