I am following this thread and wish I had known there would be a problem before I uploaded Catalina to my MacBook. I cannot scan and it just says preparing Scan with nothing further. I read the comments on this thread and nothing seems to work. Any ideas when this might get resolved. How frustrating and ridiculous.

It seems to be taking forever.
Meanwhile, I downloaded HP Smart. It works for scanning with Catalina.  It was suggested by ShlomiL one of HPs experts. Give that a try.

absolutely agree!. I’m taking to my social media accounts to tell people NOT to buy HP printer-scanners. What a shambles.

I discovered that you work around by using the scan pane in System Preferences / Printers.  Cumbersome but at least I've been able to scan so the problem seems to be in the Easy Scan app.

Now running on MAC OS 10.15 Catalina

 

Installed HP driver for printer, works OK.

Scanner does not work.

 

Any solution?

i was getting a little desperate, but your instructions worked perfectly for my HP Officejet 4630.

was getting tired for the update for HP easy scan

Thank you for the solution!  I downloaded HP Smart and am able to scan to my computer again with Catalina.

I have the same problem. One can install the software many times but always the same problem. The scanner does not work.

Yesterday, I took to Twitter and told HP and Apple about the problem. They both asked me to get back to them and I have done so, via Twitter. If anything comes of it, I will post their suggestions (if successful), on here. It’s just disgraceful that HP haven’t got this sorted.

HP! Wake up. This is outrageous. Why are you not keeping up with Mac OS???
