Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I try and scan a document using HP2540 on Windows 10.1 (64 bit), scan seems to work, but simply produces an image of the test alignment page, rather than the document!

Had the printer before Windows 10, but not sure we actually scanned anything during that time. This may be the first time we have tried. (Must say, downloading the all-in-one 100 mb app seems like overkill for a driver, which Windows doesn't seem to recognise anyway as a driver)

 

Have been rattling around for a couple of hours trying to update the drivers - suspect this may be the cause? - but things have got more complex since I last did this sort of thing (20 years ago!) and Windows insists the drivers are up to date...

 

I expect the issue is due to my Windows inadequacies - any hints or tips gratefully received...

Have you tried checking what's under the document you are trying to scan?

 

--Errr, not until just now.

 

Nothing to do with the test alignment page left on the scanner, then....
