Can't Save A scanned document

HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just purchased a new computer (Dell Inspiron 5090).  I installed my old 8600 Plus using the wireless connection.  I am able to print and copy just fine.  But scanning is an issue.  The printer no longer can find the computer.  As a work around I am using HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g Embedded Web Server as a way to scan documents.  I have been able to scan everything using the manual (Pick up the cover and place document on the glass) method, as well as using the automatic feeder (Both single and multi page documents), at least I can see the scanned image in the preview screen.  I have been saving the PDF documents produced by downloading into Microsoft Edge, then saving the document to the appropriate location on the computer.  However, for documents scanned using the automatic feeder, Microsoft edge just shows a blank page (or pages) even though I can see a preview of the document on the Webscan screen.  Thus I cannot save the document.  I also tried opening the scanned image using PDF Architect 7 with the same result, a blank page.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Let's run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

If the issue persists, let's do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:


Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.


1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.)  Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.
