Can't invoke scanner

I installed an update to my HP Officejet 8720 today.  Now when I double click on the icon on my desktop it only wants to Setup the device.  I can no longer get to my scan software.

@RC54, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

It seems like the printer is not connected to the PC. Check the network connection.

Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network. This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.

Double click on the printer icon on your PC screen and Click on 'Connect a new printer'.

 

Once the printer is connected and the HP Driver detects the printer, you will have the Scan option again.

 

Also, check the connectivity between the printer and the PC

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. If you get any security notification, click on show details and 'proceed to this website'.
  4. Go to Tool and print a TEST page.
