Can't scan, but can print, Used to scan fine, HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281 fdw

Worked fine on this network of two, until it stopped scanning.  It prints but won’t scan.  The message is “Could not connect all network drives…”  It said to run this the scan doctor, which we did.  We restarted all devices, router, so on, and the diagnostics.  Now we just get no scanning, and “unable to find the device.”  If the print software can find the device, why can’t the scanner find the computer?

Hi,
From the search bar type CMD, right-click on Command-Line and select Run as Administrator, be sure to confirm any prompt by pressing Yes.

Past the following command and press enter:

Sc config stisvc depend= rpcss/ShellHWDetection

Now restart your computer and try scanning, may you see any difference?

If the error persists, try following below version of the HP Print and Scan Doctor Utility by selecting your printer:

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe

Be sure to follow the steps by selecting Fix Scanning and allow the utility to complete the process, then check for any difference.
