Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP 8026
Unknown

I have a new OfficeJet Pro 8026, all set up and seemingly working OK as far as printing goes.

When I select "Scan" on the printer control panel and then select "Computer", I get a screen telling me the feature has to be set up first. But it doesn't tell me HOW to set it up, other than pointing me to the printer home page.  I've been to that page and ensured that "Webscan" is enabled/configured under "Scan to computer". But the same thing still happens when I try to scan directly from the printer to my Mac. (OS X 10.14 Mojave)

Scanning using the HP Smart app on my Mac works fine. But I want to also be able to use the "Scan to computer" feature directly from the printer.

it appears to be a known issue and I just want to know if anybody has found a solution or Is there a printer better suited for Mac ?

@ksyflsj124, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

It sounds like Scan to Computer is disabled on your Mac. Enabling Scan to computer using HP Utility may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

  1. On your Mac, click Finder, click Applications, click the Hewlett-Packard or HP folder, then double-click HP Utility. (If HP Utility is not available, download and install the printer essential software from here
  2. Under Scan Settings, click Scan to Computer, then make sure the Enable Scan to Computer checkbox is selected.

  4. Try to scan.

Let me know how this goes.

When you open HP Utility, if the printer is not detected, at the right bottom corner of this windows you will see a Plus icon, click on it to search for your printer and click on add.

Check the connectivity between the printer and the MAC by PING test

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon https://support.hp.com/wps/hp-skp-portlets/document/attachments/162/c02131772.gif  on the printer
  2. On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
  3. Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
  4. Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
  5. Note: There should be 0% packet loss. Share the result.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
