Laserjet pro MFP M130 FW

When I need to scan a document that contains more then one papper after a few pages the printer continues to scan, but an error message will pop up saying : "cannot communicate with scanner." I have reset the printer, I have turned it off and on again. I have reset my computer and still that happens. I do not know what to do any more. Part of my job is to scan important documents and my printer wont let me.

Some times even if I am only scanning two peices of paper it still gives me that error. This printer is driving me crazy, and I dont know how to fix it. Please help me figure this out.

Thanks.

@glynsandoval,

Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums.  After reading your post I see that you need assistance regarding scanner communication issues. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Is it a USB or wireless connection?
  • What is the operating system associated with the printer? Is it Windows or Mac?
  • What is the version of the OS?
  • DId this happen after a software or OS update?

For now, try these steps:

  • If the OS is Mac and the connection type is USB perform all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2sCnDWU  (HP Printers - USB Scanner Connection Error (MAC)
  • If the OS is Mac and the connection type is wireless  perform all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2syagXP (HP Printers - Network Scanner Connection Error (Mac)

  • If the connection type is USB and the OS is Windows perform all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2sxi9gd (HP Printers - USB Scanner Connection Error (Windows)
  • If the connection type is Wireless and the OS is Windows perform all the relevant steps from this link: http://hp.care/2sA8mWO (HP Printers - Network Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

One of these links will fix the issue based on the connection type and Operating system.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat.
