Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Example: OfficeJet Pro 6978
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I use my OfficeJet Pro 6978 for scanning with the HP Scan software.

 

Recently, I have not been able to save the scans. The image arrives in the software, but when I click Save, the image does not appear in file explorer. Normally, the image appears with the default filename and I change it.

 

I rebooted the computer and the printer, and I reloaded the printer's software suite. No help.

Has anyone experienced this and have a solution?

Download and run the automated diagnostic tool to quickly and easily resolve HP Printer Scan problems. The automatic solutions and instructions provided by HP Print and Scan Doctor can be very effective for resolving many types of scanning and printing problems.

If the issue persists, perform a root level uninstallation of print drivers-

 

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features 

2) Select your HP Printer 

3) Select Uninstall 

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers 

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’ 

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo. 

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”) 

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab 

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom 

10) Select Ok 

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows 

12) Close Devices and Printers.

 

Once the uninstallation is complete, you can download and install the latest software from here.

Does the link in your post load the expanded scsnning software? I need that version. The standard version is not sufficient.

Find below the link for extended scanning software-

 

HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
